The objective of this study was to evaluate the outcomes of using a medial maxillary approach for managing zygomatic bone defects. From January 2011 to December 2015, 6 consecutive patients treated using a medial maxillary approach for managing zygomatic bone defects were identified. The Medical Research Ethics Committee of our institution approved this retrospective study. A retrospective chart review was performed to obtain clinical, radiographic, and surgical data. The zygomatic bone was reconstructed with iliac crest autograft (n = 3) or allograft (n = 2) and Medpor implant (n = 1). The mean age was 58.5 years (range, 42-72 years). All patients had a satisfactory cosmetic and functional outcome after a mean follow-up period of 38.5 months (range, 11-49 months). A medial maxillary approach is a viable alternative to a more lateral/middle cranial base approach for managing zygomatic bone defects.List of currencies of Fiji
